Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes that loan signing Emmanuel Adebayor can be ‘great’ for the club.

Adebayor, who suffered derision from Spurs fans during his four-year stint at Arsenal, has joined the club on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.

The Togolese forward will not make his debut on Sunday against City, due to a clause inserted in his loan deal, but Redknapp was not worried, instead choosing to praise his new arrival in his Friday press conference.

“(I’m) pleased to have him here, he’s a real talent in my opinion and he will bring something different in terms of ability, a different style of ability to what we already have here,” Redknapp said.

“(He has) different style of abilities to other strikers, they are all different, but he has got lots of flair and can do things.”

“He was a top player at Arsenal in my opinion and if we can get him to reproduce that sort of form he will be a great for us.”

Redknapp also spoke on the constant transfer speculation surrounding Luka Modric, who is ‘not going anywhere’ according to his manager.

“He met with the chairman yesterday and the chairman hasn’t swayed from what he’s said on day one, he’s not going anywhere,” he said.

“Hopefully now we can push on and get Luka back playing and back in the team and doing what he does best, playing football.”

Redknapp also praised the conduct of the Croatian throughout the saga.

“He’s never a problem and as I’ve said many times he not the type of lad to cause problems. You couldn’t meet a better professional, a more model professional, than him.”

“He comes in every day and gets on with his training.”

“I see Porto has a lad who doesn’t want to play at Porto because Chelsea want him (Alvaro Pereira). There’s a lot of that going on lately. Players getting upset cause they want to move, they don’t get the move they want, Arsenal have had the situation with some of theirs, it’s difficult.”
