Reece Oxford to make permanent Bundesliga switch

Despite being just 18 years old, it feels as if West Ham defensive starlet Reece Oxford has been around forever. The centre half has already featured in the Premier League for the Hammers, as well as spending a season out on loan at Reading. He is currently plying his trade in the Bundesliga on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach, and has started to impress the German club’s hierarchy.

Despite having only recently made his Bundesliga debut, Oxford is already being linked with a £6m permanent move, according to the Guardian. The publication also reports that the club’s sporting director, Max Eberl, described the young defender as a “top lad”, confirming many people’s belief that the Hammers star is destined for a brilliant career.

In truth it would be a big loss for the London based club, who haven’t exactly been demonstrating the best defensive solidity this season. With 32 goals conceded already in this campaign, losing a promising defender may not be the wisest move at this stage.
