Reece Oxford’s West Ham future in doubt

West Ham starlet Reece Oxford has had his future at West Ham cast into doubt after comments made by Slaven Bilic this week, according to the Mirror.

The Hammers manager publicly criticised the 18-year old defender following his nomination for this year’s Golden Boy award. Speaking earlier this week Bilic told Oxford not to start believing that he is at the same level as French wonder kid Kylian Mbappe who is the favourite to win the prestigious award.

The defender is currently on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach and has been progressing well in Germany. The remarks are perplexing given that Oxford is a highly sought after youngster, and the defender attracted interest from Manchester United before he signed for West Ham.

Bilic’s comments suggest that he perhaps doesn’t value the youngster as highly as others in the industry, and there are plenty of clubs who would be willing to take a chance on a defender showing such huge potential.
