Bayern Munich chief executive Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that winger Franck Ribery is close to signing a new deal with the club.

Ribery has enjoyed great success since joining the Bundesliga outfit from Marseille in 2007, adding the UEFA Champions League to a list of honours including three German titles when Bayern overcame Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on May 25.
The France international had previously indicated that he wanted to finish his career at the Allianz Arena, and Rummenigge has now confirmed that the Bavarian giants are close to renewing the 30-year-old’s contract.
“I can reveal that we have agreed terms in principle,” he told Bild.
Ribery has been linked with a move away from Munich at various junctures in his time with the club, but Rummenigge stressed that he is happy in Germany and has no desire to seek a transfer.

“When Franck joined us in 2007, he had the reputation of being a player who switches clubs every one to two seasons.

“However, he has now already been here for six years. His family and he are feeling very good here in Munich,” the former Germany international stated.

Ribery made 42 appearances for Bayern in all competitions last season, scoring 11 goals.
