Ribery wanted by Chelsea

Unlike last year, this year’s transfer market is off to a slow and boring start. Last year Manchester United, Bayern Munich and Inter Milan spent like drunk girls let loose in Paris. United bought some good players, so did Inter, but the buy of the season would have to be Frank Ribery.

The French winger moved to Bayer Munich from Olympique Marseille for a reported £17 million and he was brilliant from day one. Now, Chelsea are looking to get Ribery to play for them and replace flop Florent Malouda.

Ribery, scorer of 11 goals last season and football’s Player of the Year in Germany, has become a prized asset for Bayern after he lead them to the Bundesliga title and the semi-finals of the UEFA Cup and they will want to keep hold of him. But, unfortunately, in today’s football ‘keep hold’ means ‘sell at the right price’. So, The Daily Mail thinks that Bayern Munich have glued a £31 million, bright orange price tag to Ribery’s forehead.

The same Daily Mail also reports that Ribery is only one of the players on Abramovich’s list. The others are Liverpool’s Fernando Torres – just because some people do not know the meaning of ‘no’ – and Kaka – because they have not learned their lesson about players that leave AC Milan.
