Rodgers praises Maguire’s handling of the United transfer

Harry Maguire has become the most expensive defender in the history of football as he made his way from Leicester City to Manchester United this summer for £80 million, and Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has praised the way the England international handled the situation.

Ahead of Leicester’s trip to Old Trafford on Saturday, when normal service is resumed in the Premier League following the first international break of the season, Rodgers has revealed that he’s still in contact with his former charge through text messages. He wished Maguire all the best for his England endeavors – against Bulgaria and Kosovo.

The former Swansea, Liverpool and Celtic boss added that the centre-back behaved impeccably during their time together at the King Power Stadium, including the period of uncertainty throughout the summer transfer window. Rodgers believes such behaviour “typified” Maguire as a man.

Leicester currently sit three points above United in the Premier League table, but it’ll be a big success if they manage to leave Manchester with anything in terms of points.
