Liverpool have been drawn at home to Swansea City in one of three all-Premier League clashes in the fourth round of the League Cup.

Brendan Rodgers’ men scraped through a third-round tie against Middlesbrough on Tuesday, courtesy of a dramatic penalty shootout at Anfield that ended 14-13, equalling the record for the highest-scoring spot-kick contest in English professional football.

And the reward for Rodgers is a clash against his former club.

Holders Manchester City, who scored seven unanswered second-half goals to beat 10-man Sheffield Wednesday 7-0 and advance to round four on Wednesday, will face Newcastle United.

In the other top-flight encounter, Sunderland’s third-round conquerors Stoke City play Southampton, who registered an impressive 2-1 win at the Emirates Stadium to beat Arsenal.

League Two Shrewsbury Town, who shocked Norwich City 1-0 on Tuesday, welcome Premier League leaders Chelsea to New Meadow.

Jose Mourinho’s side booked their place in round four with a 2-1 win over Bolton Wanderers.

Bournemouth’s reward for beating Cardiff City is a home tie against West Brom, who scored two goals in the last three minutes to beat Hull 3-2 on Wednesday.

After seeing off Nottingham Forest 3-1, Tottenham face another Championship side in Brighton and Hove Albion, who were 3-0 winners at Burton Albion.

The other ties are an all-Championship contest between Fulham and Derby County and a League One clash featuring MK Dons and Sheffield United.

All ties are to be played during the week commencing October 27.

The draw in full:

Tottenham v Brighton and Hove Albion
Stoke City v Southampton
Bournemouth v West Brom
Shrewsbury Town v Chelsea
Liverpool v Swansea City
MK Dons v Sheffield United
Manchester City v Newcastle United
Fulham v Derby County
