Roma agree deal for Argentine starlet

Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that AS Roma have all but agreed to sign Argentine striker Ezequiel Ponce from Newell’s Old Boys.

While Tottenham and few other European powerhouses were also keeping close tabs on the 17-year-old footballer, the Giallorossi seem to have won the chase for the youngster’s signature.

Roma have agreed to pay around €5 million for 60 percent of the player’s contract, while agreeing to let the forward remain in Argentina until the end of the season.

As a result, Ponce has landed in Rome earlier this morning and is set to undergo medical tests before the transfer is made official.

The youngster will be in attendance when Roma face Lazio at Stadio Olimpico this evening, where the Giallorossi are 21/20 to emerge victorious.

Ponce, who will be 18 in March, has already amassed 18 league appearances for Newell’s and scored 4 goals in the process.
