Saha: Redknapp´s England snub good for Spurs

Louis Saha insists Tottenham will benefit from Harry Redknapp missing out on the England manager’s job.

The 65-year-old emerged as the immediate favourite to take over after Fabio Capello’s shock resignation from the national side in February, but the Football Association have overlooked the Spurs boss for West Brom chief Roy Hodgson.

The former Liverpool manager is expected to be confirmed as the man to take England to Euro 2012 and beyond on Tuesday after ‘positive talks’ on Monday evening.

“Yes it is good for Tottenham, that is for sure,” Saha told reporters at his recent book signing.

“Harry is a big man and experienced enough at doing the job to be able to cope. I don’t think the news will make any difference to the players. I have never seen any difference since being here.”

Tottenham have won just three times since Redknapp was installed as the favourite for the Three Lions position, but Saha insists the possibility of losing their manager to England did not make a difference and that keeping him can only be good for the club.

“We had a lot of tough luck but it did not help as we were under pressure, the manager was under pressure,” he said.

“He gives a smile to the face of the players and when you have that, the players will give you it back.

“He knows how to give confidence, some players need an arm around their shoulder and he tailors the way he talks to the players.”
