Borussia Dortmund forward Kevin Grosskreutz has dismissed Schalke’s chances of capturing the Bundesliga title.

Schalke and defending champions Dortmund both sit level on 40 points with Bayern Munich at the top of the table.

But Grosskretuz believes Huub Stevens’ Schalke side will soon drop away, leaving the two heavyweights to do battle for the top-flight crown.

“At the beginning of the season, no-one expected that the team (Schalke) would be so high in the table,” life-long Borussia Dortmund fan Grosskreutz told Bild.

“But the Blues are not (likely) champions anyway. Bayern are (the other) favourite. If we finish second or third, and qualify for the Champions League, that would be a huge success.”

Borussia Dortmund travel to Nurnberg on Friday as they look to keep up their bid to retain their Bundesliga title.
