Schalke sign USA youngster Zyen Jones

Bundesliga outfit Schalke have completed the signing of USA youngster Zyen Jones from Atlanta.

The Miners announced the news via their official Twitter account, revealing the 17-year-old had signed a deal until June 2019.

The deal will come into effect when Jones turns 18 in August, meaning he will remain in the Atlanta youth academy until the summer.

Jones impressed representing United States at the 2017 Under-17 CONCACAF Championships, scoring 2 goals, but was left out of the squad for the U17 World Cup in India.

He is the fourth USA starlet to join Schalke in recent years, following in the footsteps of Haji Wright, Nick Taitague and Weston McKennie.

Holding midfielder McKennie has already developed into an important member of the senior squad, making 14 Bundesliga appearances this season.
