Germany star Bastian Schweinsteiger believes Euro 2012 can help him forget Bayern Munich’s Champions League final defeat to Chelsea.
Schweinsteiger missed the decisive penalty during the shootout in the showpiece final at the Allianz Arena earlier this month.
And the midfielder hopes firing Germany to success at European Championship in Poland and Ukraine tournament will allow him to shrug off the disappointment of missing out on Champions League glory.
“You are trying really hard to get the loss off your mind, but you’re thinking about the game all the time,” he told Bild.
“It is not easy to forget about it, but it’s a bit easier when you have a new challenge to focus on. Euro 2012 will be a fresh start for us.”
Germany are drawn with Denmark, the Netherlands and Portugal in Group B at the European Championships.
They begin their campaign with a match against Portugal in Lviv on June 9.
