Hibernian moved back to the summit of the Scottish Premier League with a 2-1 win over St Mirren on Saturday.

Pat Fenlon’s side were made to work hard by an industrious St Mirren outfit at Easter Road with the away side drawing first blood in the 32nd minute through Kenny McLean.

Leigh Griffiths was able to pull the home side level after 37 minutes before he popped up again in the 65th minute to hand Hibernian all three points.

Hibernian move ahead of Celtic into first place on the ladder by one point, though the Glasgow side have two games in hand.

Inverness kept in touch with the top two after they beat Kilmarnock 2-1 at Rugby Park.

Andrew Shinnie put the away side ahead on 22 minutes with Liam Kelly drawing Kilmarnock level in the 56th minute.

The game appeared to be heading towards a stalemate before Inverness were handed a lifeline thanks to a 77th-minute penalty which Billy McKay converted to give his side the win.

Aberdeen were unable to build on their four game unbeaten streak after they were beaten by Ross County 2-1 at Victoria Park.

A 37th-minute own goal and a Steven Ross strike just after half-time gave the home side a 2-0 lead before Niall McGinn pulled one back for Aberdeen on 77 minutes. But Craig Brown’s men could not find an equaliser in a result which sees them concede third place to Inverness on the league table.

Elsewhere, bottom side Dundee got a much needed 1-0 win over Hearts while Motherwall comfortably beat St Johnstone 3-1 away from home.
