Several candidates for the Chelsea job

There is no shortage of candidates for the Chelsea hot-seat according to the English and Italian media. Rijkaard, Hiddink, Scolari, Hughes, Lippi and even Mourinho are rumoured to be on Abramovich’s short-list.

Marcello Lippi is rumoured to be one of the targets by Italian football magazine, Football Italia. The tactical master has taken a two year break from football following his World Cup triumph with the Azzurri and is now rumoured to be ready to return.

The Sun runs the most extraordinary story of the day as they claim that former manager Jose Mourinho could take his old job back. But this time, it will be on his terms according to the English tabloid.

Frank Rijkaard is also frequently mentioned by the English press and his sexy brand of football is cited by many papers as one of his main attributes, while his poor man-management is his weakness. That is why the Guardian believes that hard-man Guss Hiddink could be the one to succeed Avram Grant.

The Daily Telegraph thinks that a young man is what Chelsea need now, that is why they mention Old Trafford great, Mark Hughes as the most likely replacement. According to the newspaper, Hughes is a manager who could work with Abramovich… he is also though to be able to appease the fans after his success as a Chelsea player earlier in his career.
