Southampton striker Billy Sharp has taken to Twitter to quash speculation surrounding his future.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from the Premier League club after being loaned out to Nottingham Forest last season.

A host of clubs, including Celtic, Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday and former employers Doncaster Rovers are all reportedly interested.

But despite being left out of Southampton’s pre-season matches, Sharp has insisted that his future is with the St Mary’s outfit.

“Hearing lots of rumours on here about me, like I’ve said before 2 years left on Southampton contract an (sic) I will continue to fight for my place,” he wrote on the social networking site.

“And if another club comes in for me in the meantime I will assess the situation. like I’ve said before hear it from the horses mouth.

“And lots of c**p today regarding my agent, for the record my agent is Paul masterton @marzey29 first eleven.”

Manager Mauricio Pochettino has been busy in the close-season, with a host of players leaving and two – Celtic’s Victor Wanyama and Croatia international Dejan Lovren – coming in.
