Sneijder regrets failed Manchester United move

Inter midfielder Wesley Sneijder has admitted he was open to a move to Manchester United.

The Netherlands international was heavily linked with a late switch to Old Trafford, but the move failed to materialize.

Sneijder now reveals that the transfer was discussed several times.

“There was definitely interest. For a while, I had a feeling that a transfer was pretty close,” Sneijder told Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.

“We discussed it a number of times, but the move eventually didn’t go ahead.

“I never spoke with Alex Ferguson. Talks weren’t in such an advanced stage yet. I don’t really know why they eventually stopped their attempts to sign me either.”

The player, nevertheless, says he is happy to stay at Inter.

“Manchester are one of the biggest clubs in the world, so of course I was open to a move.

“Nevertheless, a transfer was not a must for me. I’m happy to stay at Inter and I’m feeling very well in Italy.

“Perhaps Manchester United also got the feeling that I didn’t really want to leave Inter.”

The failure of Wesley Sneijder’s move to United cannot bring any gap to d recent squad i think, united midfielders are really giving their best, united has been winning and wil keep on winning.

Well well well,, i m here again,, i think this is unforced error by attitudes of Sir Alex and Wesley Sneijder with that thinking they are best, but i thinkthey both will regret. As Sneijder wanted a definate move to United after Eto left inter and quality of stars at inter is in doubt for wesley to hang on and on other hand United terribly need someone like him but recent results might have forced to think again on this for fergie that “why to invest criminal when we are scoring and winning”. But Sir Alex what if u again face Barca eventually at some stage in Champions League. Are u planning to manage Barca if guardiola quits next season, is it the thing on your mind?? Then i think its clever not to sign Wesley now and later for Barca……
