Market: Sporting Kansas City win
Odds: 3/4 @ 888sport
With the MLS making its return to action this weekend, Sporting KC will welcome a struggling Austin to Children’s Mercy Park on Saturday night.
Starting with the hosts, last seen a fortnight ago picking up an eye-catching turnaround victory on home soil, the mood in Kansas’ camp should be at a real high. Eventually mounting a real second-half flurry at Children’s Mercy Park, The Wizards landed themselves a 3-2 win against Houston before heading into the international break. Knowing that victory this weekend will see them leapfrog Seattle to top spot in the Western Conference, Peter Vermes’ side have continued on a real purple patch. Getting their revenge on The Dynamos after that defeat on the road last month, Kansas have now won each of their last three MLS matchups on the spin and have mustered 12 points from their last five appearances. Gaining a recent reputation for their clinical displays in the final third, it should also be noted that Saturday’s hosts have bagged themselves a trio of strikes in each of their last three straight victories.
As for the visitors, while the mood in Kansas’ camp is at a real high, the same cannot be said for an Austin side who have only shown a host of issues. Really failing to build off of those back-to-back victories against Colorado and Minnesota United earlier in the year, the MLS’ latest franchise are now in the midst of a real slump. Only managing to muster a single point from any of their final four matchups before heading into the international break, Josh Wolff’s side are firmly looking over their shoulder. Facing what should be another stern test on the road this weekend, Austin might also be concerned by their most recent meeting against the Western Conference high-flyers. Suffering a 2-1 defeat when the two sides faced off in Kansas last month, we’re backing a similar outcome here.
