Sunderland fail with Tottenham quartet bid

It was reported yesterday that Roy Keane had agreed a fee to buy four players from Tottenham, but now this package-deal looks unlikely to go through. The four players involved in the deal were Younes Kaboul, Teemu Tainio, Pascal Chimbonda and Steed Malbranque.

But, according to The Times, the deal could be wrecked by the players’ unwillingness to join The Black Cats. According to the report, Younes Kaboul would not move to Sunderland “if there was an earthquake” and would prefer a move to Portsmouth, while Pascal Chimbonda fancies Everton the most.

Roy Keane however is still confident that he can persuade Malbranque and Tainio to join him and he is also considering a making a more substantial offer for Darren Bent.
