Esteghlal and Iran midfielder Andranik Teymourian is expected to miss another two months due to a toe injury.
The 28-year-old former Fulham and Bolton man had been expected to return to action in the next few days after missing the past month due to the injury.
However, Esteghlal’s club doctor Sohrab Keyhani revealed there had been a setback with his recovery which will delay his return for another two months, meaning he will miss the upcoming Tehran derby against Persepolis as well as Iran’s World Cup qualifier against Qatar on February 29.
“The broken toe has been displaced and he has to wait for two more months. He could return to his team in mid-April,” Keyhani told the Tehran Times.
Teymourian’s Esteghlal are currently in top spot in Iran’s Pro League, ahead of Sepahan by three points.
