Torino lead chase for Cassano

Italian media outlet Il Giornale has suggested that Torino are in pole position to sign Antonio Cassano from Parma.

The experienced forward is widely tipped to leave the cash-strapped I Ducali this winter and he was believed to be a target for former club Sampdoria.

However, the latest reports suggest that the Blucerchiati boss Sinisa Mihajlovic doesn’t want Cassano at Marassi as he believes the former Italy international would be a disruptive influence.

Torino seem ready to take advantage of the situation and lure Cassano to Stadio Olimpico, with club chairman Urbano Cairo confirming they would not be making a move on previous targets Giampaolo Pazzini and Sebastian Giovinco.

Antonio Cassano, 32, still appears more than capable of playing at the highest level, having scored 5 goals in 13 league appearances this season.

After being slapped with a one-point penalty, Parma sit eight points behind safety and they are priced at 4/9 to get relegated.
