Striker Ahmed Toure has said he will not rescind his decision to play for Ghana even if the country of his birth, Ivory Coast, come knocking.

Toure noted that both countries have quality players, but he seems to have developed a love for his adopted country after playing in the domestic league with Asante Kotoko with remarkable success.

“I’m still waiting for the outcome of the nationality switch,” the 24-year-old said. “I’m very sure everything will be fine. I’m hoping for a good offer.”

“I don’t want to rush things. It’s my decision and I have made a choice. I have written to the Ghana FA to go ahead to write to FIFA. Now I’m waiting for the offer.”

Toure, who was the Ghana FA Cup’s Most Valuable Player last season, said his decision to choose Ghana was not because he thought it would be easier to earn a spot in the Black Stars squad.

“I want to play for Ghana because of my love for the country. I’ve made a decision and that decision is final,” he said.

“This country is now my home and I love everything about it so why not play for Ghana, I have been invited many times to play for the national team in Ivory Coast but I have turned it down just because of my love for Ghana.”

“It is definitely not because of the perception that I might not get playing time with the Elephants that is why I chose Ghana. I think The Black Stars team is equally strong and I can add up to the quality players in the squad.”

The in-form forward was instrumental for Asante Kotoko in the second half of the last season and was on target this weekend in a friendly against traditional rivals Hearts of Oak.
