Andros Townsend believes Tottenham’s win over Nottingham Forest gives Mauricio Pochettino a dilemma ahead of Saturday’s derby with Arsenal.
The Argentinian changed his entire starting XI from Sunday’s Premier League defeat to West Brom, but initially the alterations failed to have the desired effect as Spurs fell behind in the League Cup third-round tie.
Substitute Ryan Mason brought them level with a spectacular strike – his first goal for the club – before Roberto Soldado turned in Townsend’s shot and Harry Kane rounded off a 3-1 victory.
With a trip to the Emirates Stadium to come at the weekend, Townsend believes a number of players may have forced their way into Pochettino’s thoughts for Saturday.
“The performances have been okay but the results have not been there so it was good to get a morale-boosting win with the big game coming up on Saturday,” he told Sky Sports.
“The manager made a lot of changes but I think the lads that played showed that they are good enough to be selected on Saturday so I’m sure the manager has got a few problems and he’ll want that.”
