FC Twente again risk losing their second place to Ajax, as the Enschede outfit drew 1-1 with SC Heerenveen on Saturday. PSV beat Heracles 0-2 and are now on course for direct UEFA Cup qualification.

Twente were in fact close to losing the match at Heerenveen, due to a goal from Paulo Henrique in the 77th minute. A last-gasp equaliser from Theo Janssen silenced the home crowd though and allowed Twente to return home with at least one point.

Ajax could surpass Twente on Sunday, when Marco van Basten’s men host fresh champions AZ Alkmaar.

In the process, Heerenveen lost their fourth place to PSV Eindhoven. Balazs Dzsudzsak scored the opener in the 22nd minute and Danny Koevermans made it 0-2 in the 76th.
