In a real relegation battle this weekend, both Udinese and Empoli will look to extend their buffer over the relegation zone when they meet on Sunday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, picking up a very impressive 1-1 draw away at AC Milan last time out, Udinese have suddenly breathed new life into their season. Saving their best performances for the back end of the campaign defeats against Italian powerhouses Juventus and Napoli are their only defeats in their last seven appearances. With the chance to potentially leapfrog SPAL and extend their buffer over the bottom three to five points, it will be their ongoing performances at the Dacia Arena most impressing boss Igor Tudor. Sunday’s hosts are enjoying a three-match Serie A winning run on home soil and have lost just a single contest in front of their own supporters since the 9th of December.

As for the visitors, Empoli find themselves in an almost identical position to Udinese. Picking up their own impressive victory thanks to a famous 2-1 win at home to Napoli in midweek, Empoli now find themselves out of the bottom three for the first time in recent memory. Despite winning two of their last three and now dreaming of another season of Serie A football, it has been their issues on the road really giving Aurelio Andreazzoli the biggest headache. The Blues have now lost their last four matches away from the Stadio Carlo Castellani and have remarkably failed to pick up a single away victory all season.
