Peru international Giancarlo Carmona has revealed that Udinese are keeping a close eye on his progress.

The 26-year-old, currently on loan in his native country after a year in Argentina with San Lorenzo, is reportedly a transfer target for the Serie A club.

Udinese have been watching him in South America, and would be looking to make a move for Carmona when the transfer window reopens at the end of the 2011-12 season.

The wing-back appreciated the interest from the Italians, but having struggled to break into the Lima starting line-up admitted that was the key for him at the present time.

“It is nice to know one of Europe’s big clubs like Udinese are following me, but can you imagine, I have only played one game in the Copa (Libertadores) and I cannot play in the local tournament. That really hurts me because I can’t even get into the national team due to that lack of rhythm,” he explained to Libero.

Agent Juan Domingo Pinieri, meanwhile, added that nothing could happen without San Lorenzo’s consent.

“The contract with San Lorenzo states that he will play two championships and the club is worried. I want to speak with (club director) Alarcon, but he won’t answer the phone. I have a partner in Italy who should be keeping an eye on the Udinese deal, meanwhile the contract will be fulfilled,” Pinieri said.

Carmona has made three appearances for the Peru national team, and was part of the squad that finished third in the 2011 Copa America.
