In arguably the glamour tie of this year’s African Cup of Nations, former champions Nigeria and Cameroon will meet in Alexandria on Saturday evening in what could be a cagey encounter.

Starting with Nigeria, coming off the back of a shocking 2-0 loss against Madagascar last weekend, a result many have described as the biggest upset out in Egypt this summer, the Super Eagles have been far from at their best during their Group B campaign. Despite managing to just scrape past both Guinea and Burundi with a pair of hard-fought 1-0 wins, Head Coach Gernot Rohr has seen his side continue to struggle with a lack of creativity in the final third. Scoring just two goals in almost 300 minutes of African Cup of Nations action, the three-time champions could be in for another cagey encounter this weekend.

As for Cameroon, after having to settle for yet another 0-0 draw against Benin in their Group F finale, Cameroon find themselves in an almost identical position to their opponents this weekend. After lifting the African crown out in Gabon two years ago, former AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf has seen his side record just one win out in Egypt this summer. Sadly for Les Lions, along with struggling to find their best form during the group stage, they also hold a very worrying record against their African counterparts. Cameroon have failed to win any of their last five matches against Nigeria, losing four of those contests.
