La Liga side Valencia confirmed the appointment of Miroslav Djukic as their new manager on a two-year deal on Wednesday.
The Serbian arrived at the club on Tuesday to sign a contract and has now been officially appointed to replace Ernesto Valverde.
The 47-year-old enjoyed a highly successful spell as a player at the club between 1997 and 2003, where he won a La Liga title in 2002 and the Copa del Rey in 1999.
Djukic also has two UEFA Champions League runners-up medals from 2000 and 2001 in his collection.
His appointment at Valencia comes after a successful two-year stint in charge of Real Valladolid, where he won promotion to the top flight in Spain in 2012 before guiding the team to 14th position in La Liga this season.
Elsewhere behind the scenes at the club, Amadeo Salvo has been appointed the new president, replacing Manuel Llorente.
A statement on the club’s official website read: “Following the Valencia Club de Futbol board meeting held on Tuesday, June 4, the members of the VCF board of directors have decided unanimously on the appointment of Mr Amadeo Salvo Lillo as the new President of the club, with immediate effect.”
