Villarreal’s Borja Valero is flattered by reported interest from Real Madrid, but doubts the likelihood of a return to the club.

Valero, 27, was released by Real in 2007, joining first Mallorca and then West Bromwich Albion, before switching from the English Premier League club to Villarreal, initially on loan, in 2010.

The midfielder has been the subject of speculation linking him with a move back to Estadio Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the campaign, but Valero is paying little attention to the rumours.

“People are now talking about a move to Madrid, and previously there was talk about Barcelona. These kinds of things flatter me, and make me happy and satisfied,” Valero was quoted as saying by AS.

“There’s nothing concrete though. I do not believe that Madrid will pay millions for me. They let me go for free not so long ago, so I can’t see them paying a big transfer fee for me now.”

Valero is contracted to Villarreal until the end of the 2014/15 season.
