Miguel Veloso has urged his Portugal team-mates not to underestimate Denmark ahead of Wednesday’s second Group B match.

The Danes started Euro 2012 with a 1-0 victory over favourites Netherlands, while the Portuguese started the tournament with a loss against Germany, and Veloso has stressed that his side respect their next opponents.

“We respect every team, but the other sides also respect us, because we have a great team and individually strong players,” the midfielder told the UEFA website.

“We know that Denmark got a good result against the Dutch and deservedly won, but we have to do our work on the pitch and fight until the last minute.

“I think that Denmark defend quite well, and they counterattacked well against Netherlands. We have to stop them in some way.”
