Wenger looking to spend big in January

The Daily Mail is today reporting that Arsene Wenger is ready to spend big on a striker during the transfer window.

It is being suggested that Wenger has a kitty of around £35 million to spend in the New Year, which he will use to bring Robin Van Persie’s long-term successor to the club.

The two players that the Gunners boss seems to have his eyes on are Athletic Bilbao front-man Fernando Llorente and Atletico Madrid striker Adriano Lopez.

Llorente is out of contract with Bilbao at the end of the campaign, meaning that he could be available on the cheap in January. He is clearly not happy in the Basque Country at the moment and will attract attention from a number of European clubs.

Lopez is a player that Wenger has had his eye on for some time now and is currently living in the shadow of prolific goal-scorer Radamel Falcao, meaning he may wish to move on for more first-team opportunities.

The Gunners seem keen on bringing in either one of these strikers currently plying their trade in La Liga, but are not likely to have the cash to sign both.

Which one will Wenger try and bring to the Emirates Stadium?

We shall see.
