Barcelona midfielder Alex Song is set to join Premier League outfit West Ham, Sky Sports has revealed.
The Cameroon star has been linked with a host of Europe’s top clubs after it became clear he would be leaving the Camp Nou, but the Hammers have emerged as surprise favourites for his signature.
According to Sky Sports, West Ham have all but agreed a season-long loan for the former Arsenal midfielder.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger seems to have rejected the opportunity to re-sign Song, with the player opting to join Arsenal’s local rivals.
A move to Boleyn Ground should serve as an end to a somewhat disappointing spell in Catalunya, during which the midfielder made 39 La Liga appearances.
But, seeing as how Alex Song still has quite a few good years ahead of him, it comes as a major surprise that some of the more illustrious European clubs haven’t tried to secure his services.
