West Ham seek strikers

West Ham owner David Sullivan has revealed that Sam Allardyce is looking to add goals to his squad prior to the new season.

The London club broke their transfer record to bring in Andy Carroll from Liverpool for £15million in June, with the England international signing a six-year contract.

But Sullivan insists that West Ham are not done yet, and expects to see more attacking signings before the 2013-14 Premier League campaign gets under way.

“We need goal scorers not defenders,” he wrote during a Q&A session via his son’s account on Twitter.

“We are happy with the rest of the team all we need now is pace and goals.”

Sullivan also discussed the possibility of bringing Scott Parker back to Upton Park, with the midfielder believed to be surplus to requirements at Tottenham.

“We have to focus wages on strikers due to wage cap but would love Scott back if there was room,” he added.

And, on Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, who has been linked with a departure from Villa Park, he said: “Very injury prone but a good player on his day.”
