Who are the potential candidates that could replace Harry Kane at Tottenham this summer?

Although Tottenham might be getting a new adventure underway after they appointed Ange Postecoglou last month, it has once again been Spurs’ attacking icon that has stolen most of the headlines this summer.

While the record-breaking Erling Haaland might have stormed his way to the Premier League history books last season, Harry Kane enjoyed another free-scoring run and has only continued to cement his spot as one of the most clinical marksmen in world football.

Eventually notching 30 Premier League strikes last season and spearheading an England squad that reached the World Cup quarter-finals out in Qatar, the Three Lions’ skipper once again finds himself at a real career crossroads.

Entering the final 12 months of his current deal in north London and with no signs on an extension on the horizon, Kane remains at the heart of a real transfer saga.

With Tottenham already knocking back two official bids from Bayern Munich this summer, the German giants have remained strident that they will complete a blockbuster swoop before the window slams shut.

As many around north London fear that their record-breaking hero will finally get his move away from the capital, we have taken a look at three striking stars that could be a viable replacements for Kane.

Even Ferguson – Brighton

Once again receiving a string of Premier League plaudits last season as they punched a famous European finish, Brighton have only gone from strength to strength since they welcomed Roberto De Zerbi to the Amex back in September.

Gaining a reputation for their free-flowing approach under the one-time Sassuolo boss, it was the Seagulls’ budding striking superstar who certainly spearheaded Brighton’s top-six charge last season.

Already watching Alexis Mac Allister make the move to Liverpool last month and Moises Caicedo inching towards what could be an £80million switch to Chelsea, the Amex hierarchy know that there are plenty of Premier League heavyweights that are keeping tabs on Evan Ferguson’s progress.

Bursting onto the scene after returning from the World Cup’s winter break, the 18-year-old notched six top-flight strikes last season and has quickly transformed into one of Europe’s hottest young striking prospects.

While the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea have also reportedly registered an interest in the Ireland international, Sky Sports suggested back in May that Tottenham have identified Ferguson as a long-term replacement for Kane.

Jonatan David – Lille

Eventually suffering final weekend heartbreak as they missed out on booking a Champions League ticket thanks to a one-point deficit, Lille have accepted that a number of their first-team stars will be forced to move on this summer.

While Les Douges might have come under real scrutiny as they missed out on a crucial top-four finish, Paulo Fonseca’s attacking talisman certainly finds his stock at a red-hot high.

Eventually finishing the 2022/23 campaign with 24 Ligue 1 strikes to his name – a tally that was only surpassed by Kylian Mbappe and Alexandre Lacazette – Jonathan David has plenty of European giants that are looking to test Lille’s resolve this summer.

With The Daily Mail reporting last weekend that Spurs have placed the Canadian international on their striking shortlist, that same report suggests that the Ligue 1 outfit are seeking a fee in the region of £50million.

Notching 58 goals in his 136 appearances for Lille since making the move from Gent back in 2018, David has now entered the final two years of his current deal at the Stade Pierre-Mauroy.

Dusan Vlahovic – Juventus

With Juventus still dealing with some public financial issues behind the scenes in Turin, the Italian icons have made it clear that they are willing to cash in on their attacking talisman if they receive an acceptable offer this summer.

Only making the move from Fiorentina 18 months ago in a deal worth as much as £66million, Dusan Vlahovic has largely struggled to find much stability at the Allianz and could only sign off the 2022/23 campaign with a trio of strikes in his final 15 appearances.

Although reports over the past week might have suggested that French heavyweights PSG are weighing up a potential cut-price deal this summer, ESPN are suggesting that Tottenham remain a long-term admirer of the Juventus ace and would be willing to make an official proposal if Kane does force through a move to Bayern.

With Spurs famously holding a positive relationship with Juve after signing the likes of Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski, it has been suggested that the two parties could hash out a deal in a timely fashion.
