Jetro Willems has signed a new contract with PSV until June 2018.

The Netherlands international’s previous deal was due to expire at the end of this season and the likes of Liverpool and Everton had been credited with an interest in the left back.

However, Willems has now inked a one-year extension in order to make sure PSV receive a transfer fee if he decides to seek pastures new in the future.

“I told sporting director Marcel Brands last season that I would not leave PSV on a free transfer,” Willems commented on his renewal.

“Everybody expected me to leave ahead of this season, but that was never my intention. PSV have a place in my heart and I want to win a third Eredivisie title in a row.”
