Setting an early pace entering September, a high-flying Woking will welcome Torquay to The Laithwaite Community Stadium on Tuesday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Woking may have only just secured a National League return over the summer, few would have expected their stellar start to the new campaign. Coming off the back of a dramatic 3-2 win at home to Barrow over the weekend, Alan Dowson’s men are enjoying a six-match winning run and have entered September on top of the pile. Dreaming of securing a famous back-to-back promotion come May, a huge part of their eye-catching start has come thanks to their form on home soil. Woking have won each of their last three matches in Surrey and the mood in their camp is currently soaring.

As for the visitors, putting in another worrying display in their 2-1 defeat at home to Hartlepool, Torquay appear to be showing some signs of a struggle. Also shipping two away at Barrow a fortnight ago, Gary Johnson’s men have lost their spot in the play-offs and have continued to struggle on their travels. Aisde from a close-fought 2-1 win over Dover last month, the former Yeovil boss has seen his men win just one of their previous six National League matches on the road. Given Woking’s high-flying start to the year, we’re backing a home victory on Tuesday night.
