Wolves boss O’Neil keen for Hwang to sign new contract

Hwang Hee-chan still has two and a half years left on his contract with Wolverhampton Wanderers, and despite reports suggesting his performances have attracted a number of potential suitors, Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has revealed that he would like to see the tricky winger stay at the Molineux beyond the summer of 2026.

“The club are obviously in talks with Channy and I’m a huge Channy fan, so hopefully it goes well,” O’Neil told Sky Sports.

“He’s been incredible for me since I arrived, bought into everything that I’ve asked and his goals have obviously been good, but just the way he is around the place, his work ethic, the way he does what you ask him to do always with a smile on his face, with grit and determination, so yeah an important player for the team and the club.

“Hopefully we can secure his services for a bit longer than his current deal.”

The 27-year-old South Korea international has so far scored seven goals and produced two assists in 13 matches across all competitions this season.
