Real Madrid are weighing up the possibility of making a shock move for Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea, the Daily Mail is reporting.
It is thought that Real want to find a long-term replacement for veteran ‘keeper Iker Casillas and would like a potential new number one to work with the Spanish captain for a couple of seasons before he eventually retires.
The La Liga champions apparently have a strong relationship with the de Gea’s agent and would feel confident in bringing him to the Bernabeu.
There have been reports that de Gea is homesick in Manchester and missing life in Spain, which Real are believed to be a key factor in being able to bring him to the Spanish capital.
The Spaniard has been in and out of the Red Devils starting line-up this campaign and appears to be frustrated by not being the man Sir Alex Ferguson trusts to be his out and out number one.
United are sure to do all they can to keep the 21-year-old as he clearly has bags of potential and could go on to become one of the best shot-stoppers around.
However, a move to Madrid could be too good for him to turn down.
