(GSM) – The President of the FIGC Giancarlo Abete expressed his surprise and regret after hearing Fiorentina’s comments over Cesare Prandelli.

Earlier FIGC called the Viola boss to lead the Azzurri after the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, on a four year contract.

Fiorentina had been aware that Prandelli was talking to the federation, but claiming that they weren’t informed about their coach’s appointment and criticised the FIGC’s behaviour, calling it ‘disrespectful’.

“I didn’t expect it. I express surprise and regret,” Abete reacted.

“There will not be any problems and we will clarify everything with Fiorentina.

“The club gave us the permission to contact Prandelli and aside from Sunday’s meeting it was all clear for 10 days.

“There are only technical questions to resolve. Prandelli still has a contract with Fiorentina and we will try to safeguard the professional interests of his technical staff,” he explained
