Paris Saint-Germain manager Carlo Ancelotti has hailed his side’s resilience after their 1-0 win at home to Stade de Reims on Saturday.
A second-half header from Kevin Gameiro proved the difference, with PSG’s international stars leading the charge following their national team commitments.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic played on the back of two outings for Sweden, while Brazilian Thiago Silva, Italian Salvatore Sirigu and Frenchmen Blaise Matuidi and Mamadou Sakho, also featured after representing their countries.
“It was a complicated game but still this is a nice victory and most importantly the three points that go with it,” Ancelotti said.
“It was difficult, like we said it was going to be before the game because Reims are a good team.
“(But) it was more difficult to play after the international games, the players looked very tired. A game like today is tough to deal with.
“The first-half performance was not good but we were much better in the second half.
“We created ourselves a lot of chances. We have hit the post twice. I think that we deserved to win.”
PSG have provisionally moved to top spot, level on 19 points with Marseille, who travel to Troyes on Sunday.
