Arsenal, Liverpool vying for William Carvalho

Daily Express is reporting that Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool are locked in the battle for Sporting Lisbon hotshot William Carvalho.

The Gunners have failed to recruit a holding midfielder in the summer transfer window and are now in problems as Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla are both unavailable.

Arsene Wenger could attempt to make things right in January and chances are he will step up his interest in the Sporting star.

Liverpool, too, are short of options in the centre of the park, especially now that Jordan Henderson is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

William Carvalho has already established himself as one of Europe’s most talented footballers and he has made five appearances for Portugal in the Euro 2016 qualifying campaign.

The 23-year-old has missed the start of the current season through injury, but should soon return into action, although next month’s qualifiers will probably come too soon for him.
