Russia’s star player, Andrei Arshavin, has shown the world of football what they have been missing while he was suspended. The diminutive forward ran the Swedish defence ragged on Wednesday and gave his Russian side a much needed creative spark.

His hard work in the UEFA Cup this season and in the game against Sweden had not gone unnoticed and it is rumoured that a host of European clubs have been linked with Arshavin. Among those clubs is also Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal. And, with this in mind Arshavin, has informed his club, Zenit St Petersburg, that he intends to move onto bigger things this summer, according to Setanta Sports.

However, Zenit St Petersburg manager, Dick Advocaat, sent a warning to his star player, letting him know that not all that is said in the papers is always true.

“Andrei has told us that he wishes to change clubs,” Said Advocaat to Setanta Sports.

“At present in the way of offers it is quiet.

“The situation may well change after tomorrow’s game against Holland for the national side.”

“What is written in newspapers is not always true.”

Arsenal has already bought Samir Nasri and Aaron Ramsey this summer, but with the impending departure of Hleb, Wenger might look to bring some in reinforcements for the attacking department of his squad.

I’ll dip my b*lls in red hot irish stew and have them for lunch if Arsene pays anything near £20mils for a 27 year old player. This is the age Arsene may consider selling players to other clubs for goodness sake. It is not going to happen!!!!! No, not at that price
The only player he ever signed who was almost past it was Suker from Real Madrid and I think he was free transfer or some ridiculous price that could be described as pocket change to some our highly paid players now.
I can’t see Arshavin coming over but a more realistic signing could be the Brazilian kid Diogo. Arsene only buys kids who are mature enough to play good football and also hungry enough to battle for success!!

Dont really know how that is true but rumours has always been around about players transfer, but one will like to see Arseanl next season winning something but to do that we just have to get more matured, established players to Emirates.I hope Wenger can still grab the likes of Martins and arshavin if the story is not just a speculation.Gunners for life!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Got something to say?
