Italian newspaper Tuttosport understands that Juventus are keeping close tabs on Cagliari defender Davide Astori.
The Bianconeri are really short of cover for the back trio of Barzagli, Bonucci and Chiellini, and Antonio Conte is eager to sign a new central defender in the summer.
Federico Peluso did arrive from Atalanta in the January transfer window, but he has proved to be better as a cover for full-back Kwadwo Asamoah than as a centre-back.
It is for that reason that the Old Lady officials are scouring the markets for a talented defender aged between 23 and 26 years, who would be a long-term solution to the problem.
According to Tuttosport, Cagliari stopper Davide Astori is at the top of Juventus’ hit-list.
The 26-year-old has developed into one of the best Serie A defenders and he is already a full Italy international.
The only problem is that Juventus face a stiff competition for the player’s signature, with Inter, Milan and Napoli also keen.
