Atletico target Cavani

According to Mundo Deportivo, Atletico Madrid are targeting Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani. The Uruguay striker would be a replacement for the soon-to-depart Antoine Griezmann as the Spanish outlet claims.

Griezmann has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona with the media in Spain constantly putting out fresh stories about the saga, but Atletico are also attempting to do whatever they can to keep the French attacker.

And now it seems Diego Simeone is already eying a replacement for Griezmann, a player that would be able to connect properly with Diego Costa. He is a big admirer of Cavani who has several times been linke with departing the Paris club due to an alleged rift with Neymar. The report goes as far as to claim a deal between the striker and Atletico Madrid has already been agreed ‘in principle’.

There can be no questions about the quality of Cavani as he has thoroughly proven it over the course of his career, but just how much he would be able to cooperate with a player like Diego Costa might be an interesting subject perhaps.
