AZ Alkmaar came back from behind to beat ADO Den Haag 4-1 on Saturday, and are yet another step closer to their first championship since 1981.
Forty minutes had been played at AZ’s DSB Stadium when ADO took the lead through Christiaan Kum, but Moussa Dembele levelled a few minutes after the break.
AZ were clearly the stronger side in the second half, and goals from Maarten Martens, Mounir El Hamdaoui and Nick van der Velden gave Louis van Gaal’s side a 4-1 victory and an advantage of 11 points over Twente with just five games to go.
Last season’s champions PSV Eindhoven earned a 0-2 win at Sparta Rotterdam, with first-half goals from Balazs Dzsudzsak and Ola Toivonen.
