Boateng to leave Bayern?

Bayern Munich‘s Jerome Boateng has dropped a huge hint he could be leaving the German champions soon, according to Sky Sports.

Apparently, the centre-back feels he has accomplished everything he could with the Bavarian club and he’s in the process of asking himself whether that is what he wants to continue doing. He’s come to the stage of his career where he’s not certain that there are goals still to be achieved at Bayern, and he wonders if he really wants to continue proving himself at the same level, with the same pre-conditions, time and again. He feels such questions are not only typical career questions, but rather vital ones, ones that drive people.

After spells with Hertha and Hamburger SV, Boateng spent a year at Manchester City before joining Bayern in 2011. He has accumulated 258 games and scored eight goals for the club since then. He was part of the Bayern team that won the famous treble in 2013 under Jupp Heynckess, the manager who has come back from retirement earlier this season to help the club again. He has so far won a total of six Bundesliga titles, three DFB-Pokal trophies, one Champions League and the 2014 World Cup with the German national team.

Perhaps it really is time to seek a new challenge for the 29-year-old defender.
