Celtic beat Dundee United 1-0 on Thursday to win the 2007/08 Scottish Premier League title on the final night of matches by three points from Rangers who lost 2-0 at Aberdeen.

Rangers failed to win the UEFA Cup final and have faltered in the league run in but a win over Queen of the South in Saturday's Scottish Cup final would still mean they had won both domestic cup competitions following their League Cup victory earlier in the season.

Celtic striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink's 20th goal of the season at Tannadice had brought the title closer to Gordon Strachan's men.

The Hoops travelled to Tayside level on points with Rangers but four goals better off and with Aberdeen beating the Ibrox side at Pittodrie, there was no need for the tension that surrounded Tannadice for most of the match.

But in the 71st minute the big Dutchman removed any doubts when he headed a Paul Hartley corner past United goalkeeper Lukasz Zaluska for the only goal.
