Paris Saint-Germain midfielder David Beckham said he was delighted with his venture in China during a recent visit.

The former England captain was in the country to promote the Chinese Super League, after the league’s reputation was dealt a massive blow when China’s Football Association recently found 58 people guilty of involvement in match-fixing.

Beckham is the nation’s first football ambassador, and he said the experience was a positive one.

“Honestly, I loved this trip to China. Especially the welcome I received and the cities visited,” the Englishman told PSG’s official website.

The global superstar was greeted by the usual hysteria of screaming fans but the midfielder was quick to turn his attention back to football matters.

“I must admit that I’m itching to put aside the suit and put my boots on again,” Beckham added.

Paris Saint-Germain sit top of Ligue 1 and will face Montpellier on Friday.
