Draxler wanted Barcelona move

El Mundo Deportivo claims that Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Julian Draxler was holding out for a summer move to Barcelona.

The Catalans have been linked with a move for the German footballer after missing out on Philippe Coutinho, but eventually opted against pursuing their interest.

It has now been revealed that Draxler was so keen on joining Barcelona that he even told his international teammates of his desire.

The Catalans eventually opted against recruiting another high-profile footballer, leaving the Germany starlet to fight for his place at Parc des Princes.

With Neymar and Kylian Mbappe having both joined this summer, it is clear that Julian Draxler faces an uphill battle to secure a regular starting berth.
