France will attack Spain, says Deschamps

France boss Didier Deschamps promised les Bleus will try to adopt a positive approach when they meet Spain in Paris on Tuesday.

Goals from Olivier Giroud, Mathieu Valbuena and Franck Ribery guided the French to victory at Stade de France, and the former Marseille boss believes that he cannot afford to change his team’s mind-set significantly prior to their fixture against la Roja, who they lead by two points after four fixtures.

Deschamps’ men were surprisingly handed the advantage in Group I when Finland pegged back the world and European champions for a 1-1 draw in Gijon on Friday.

“To play Spain and think of defending is not the solution,” he told TF1 after the victory over Georgia.

“The most important thing is to keep first place after the match on Tuesday, and most especially at the end of the group.

“It was a surprise that Finland got a draw, but it just shows that it is hard for all the teams.

“We fulfilled our contract and we will have to see what happens on Tuesday.”

The France coach also said he was disappointed his side conceded against Georgia, albeit a consolation goal.

“The most important thing was to win,” he continued.

“It annoys me to have lost the goal because we were too lax. I am a perfectionist, but we still scored three goals.”

France have gained 10 points from their four fixtures, with their only dropped points a 1-1 draw in Spain in October.
