Tottenham striker Harry Kane has just received his first England call-up after enjoying a stellar start to the campaign

Young Tottenham striker Harry Kane recently received his first call-up to the England national team.

The 21-year-old will be in the Three Lions squad for the Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania at Wembley and friendly against Italy.

Meteoric

The youngster has enjoyed a meteoric rise to stardom. This is his first campaign as a regular in the first team at Tottenham, after making his debut for the north London club in 2011.

Kane has spent loan spells at the likes of Leyton Orient, Millwall, Norwich and last season at Leicester.

His loan spells showed very little of what was to come from the youngster this season. He has gone from Championship loanee to Player of the Season in less than a season.

The striker’s influence on Spurs is plain to see, as his goals have accounted for 22-points for his team in the Premier League, the highest tally of any player in the top-flight this season.

Goals

Harry Kane has now scored 29 goals in all competitions this season and is just one off Jurgen Klinsmann’s club-record of 30 goals in one season in all competitions. Kane is now the joint-top scorer in the Premier League alongside Chelsea star Diego Costa on 19 goals.

The youngster is now regarded as favourite to win the Premier League golden boot this season with some bookmakers at odds of 5/4, which is quite incredible considering he is competing with Costa and Manchester City star Sergio Aguero for the honour.

Complete

Harry Kane looks like he is the most complete striker to emerge in the English game for a long time. Often young players are overhyped when they have very little to offer except potential.

However, Kane despite being just 21-years old is already competing with the top strikers in the Premier League and seems comfortable in their presence.

Kane is not just a finisher, but a very intelligent footballer as well. The striker seems to have very few weaknesses and appears ultra-confident in his own ability.

Harry Kane seems to have all the attributes in his make-up to become a truly top star in club football and hopefully for England’s sake the international game.

England

England have had a dearth of strikers in recent years. Captain Wayne Rooney has been a mainstay of the England attack for a long time. Last season Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge enjoyed a stellar campaign and became the logical partner to Rooney in attack.

This season though Kane, along with QPR’s Charlie Austin to a lesser extent, have also emerged as players capable of adding something to the England strike-force. Kane looks like a player who has the intelligence to play football at the highest level.

Starting

The form that Harry Kane is currently enjoying should guarantee him a starting place in Friday’s Euro 2016 qualifier against Lithuania. The striker has scored six goals in his last six Premier League appearances, including a hat-trick last time out in a 4-3 win over Leicester City last weekend.

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has withdrew from Roy Hodgson’s squad through injury, so Kane is now even more likely to start up front, with Rooney likely to play in the number ten role behind the youngster.

The partnership seems like an exciting one for England fans. Both are clever footballers and are likely to dovetail very well in attack for the Three Lions. Something tells me Kane will not be overawed by making his international debut.

Impact

The England national team is in need of some exciting young players that are actually delivering in the Premier League. Some of England’s most promising youngsters have flattered to deceive this season. However, Kane’s rise to prominence has been a Roy of the Rovers kind of story.

Everybody associated with Tottenham and England will be hoping that Harry Kane’s performance this season is not just a flash in the pan. The signs are positive though so far that he has the quality to be a star for a good while yet and is not just a one season wonder.

The striker has shown his qualities at Premier League level and now it is time to show them at international level for England. I for one would not back against the youngster making an instant impact on the international game.
